A New Day is on the Way! The Plan for a Demonstration Site…

The Plan

The plan is to create a demonstration site. A light on a hill of you will. We have sold our house for seed money to help jump start this endeavor however we still need your help to make it happen. The Term “Permaculture is derived from Permanent Agriculture. However we are taking it further so here it means “Permanent Culture”
that is sustainable and can endure for a thousand years or more.

Immediate Goals:

1. Help others become happy and positive by giving them the book; The Books of Life Volume I; “How to Become Happy”.
2. Acquire the land to build the demonstration site.
3. Plant lots of trees to production such a fruit and nuts, also from oaks and pines, to Chestnut etc.
4. Acquire equipment such as backhoe,  or track-hoe and loader etc. to  prepare the land as described below.
5. Acquire alternative energy equipment such as solar, wind, or hydro etc. as applicable for the land.
6. Build and or retrofit housing and facilities such as teaching/community/healing center.
7. Set up an alternate trading/gifting center
8. Build or retrofit a “Rip Rap” Library with 3D printer and other tools for community use.
9. Build an alternative bio fuels plant.

We will acquire a hundred acres or more, or somewhere in that range. We will design the landscape using permaculture techniques. Keyline water management using swales (berms) on contour and dams if needed. This slows the natural water flow on the property from rain fall and any streams or drainage’s on the property and pushes it out to the ridges to give it time to soak in. This stores water in the soil and recharges the aquifers and gives life to the soil organisms that build good soil…it prevents flooding as well. It also creates  the nutrition we need from our foods we are currently not getting.

We will then plant lots of productive trees and bushes along those swale lines and contour lines. Trees also store water. These will be production trees and bushes. Fruit and nut trees along with Oaks, Chestnuts and Pines and other species, all which produce delicious edible nuts or fruit.

Chestnuts and acorns used to be referred to as corn or grain that grows on trees. And they literally are. Try some chestnut flour. It is the original flour that pasta was made of. The American chestnut tree is making a come back after being nearly wiped out by an Asian blight back near the turn of the twentieth century. Native Americans ate acorns and chestnuts as a staple food and many early settlers did the same. Chestnut flour has a delightful nutty slightly sweet taste.

The larger trees will be the over story and smaller fruit and nut trees the mid story. (This method of planting once established can get up to 4 times the yield per acre then  planting annual crops.)

We will then plant bushes like hazel nuts, blue berries, raspberries, black berries and huckleberries etc. for the under story. Did you know that hazel nuts produce three times the oil as soy beans?  And you don’t have to replant every year!  Also their shells burn like coal. So perhaps they could fire an ethanol still, or masonry heaters.

Between the trees we will have pasture and also annual crops can be grown there, but also perennials like asparagus etc. Livestock such as cows, pigs, or sheep, and chickens will be rotated through using a paddock system so it is not over grazed or browsed. This mimics nature in that the animals keep the under growth and insects in check trims the trees and fertilize on their way through and makes for very healthy animals.

I grew up in the construction trades, I  have been organic gardening for years and have  a Permaculture Design Certificate from Geoff Lawton. We have done some of this on a small scale already, however this really takes things to the next level in how to build sustainable communities  while caring for the environment. Once established this type of system has very little input freeing up your time to do other things.

Idaho Permaculture

This system mimics the basic Savannah type landscape that used to cover most of north America. The difference is we are planting it more to production.  Check out what Mark Shepard is doing.

We will have a community teaching and retreat center there so people can learn these techniques and see first hand how it functions. We will also have a healing center were various healing modalities will be used and taught.

Also a Community pancake breakfast,  lunch, or dinner for people to sample the foods grown on the property.

Also a community trading/Gifting and or bartering post to foster helping one another and alternative means of trading and currencies, perhaps flea market style? Perhaps maybe even an old western style town boardwalk with several buildings people can offer their wares out of. Maybe regular stores but we’d like to explore alternatives means of trade.

Also a library type workshop with tools and a 3D printer that can be used by the community.

We will generate our own power and it will be designed into the buildings or retrofitted into any existing buildings. With the hazel nut oil we could make bio diesel, and of course there is wind and solar power, with the potential for hydro electric if there is a year round stream or creek on the property we chose.

There is the potential for ethanol production also and perhaps an ethanol co-op for the community with a filling station. Did you know most modern cars can run ethanol with no modification these days? Modern computers in most cars will adjust the mixture for maximum efficiency adding more power and cleaner engine with no loss in mileage.

Other families will be invited to live on the property also. Others will also be encouraged to acquire property near or next door if possible and design it similarly. Our goal is to set the example and consult and help others do the same on what ever scale they desire.

I have a certificate from Geoff Lawtons Permaculture Design Course for consulting and designing. However I have been doing some of these techniques intuitively for years.

By  donating you will be contributing to a bright new future for humanity a seed for the future if you will.  As a thank you for your contribution you will receive a copy of the book (How to Become Happy) we wish to get the book out to millions of people. Societal change starts with helping chang people!

Why should you contribute? Because it’s time! It really is folks, its time we start moving forward to a new society. Keeping the good of the past but discarding the bad. For our children and grandchildren. It has to start somewhere. It has been started by a few, however we need lots more seeds planted for this vision to unfold. If not us, who? If not now, when? Thanks for reading and considering this. Thank you for your help. And thank you for your  generous contribution!

Becoming Happy and Creating a Greater Society

A New Day is on The Way”

Take this thought with you while reading this. This crossed your path for a reason, please give it serious and deep consideration. Thank you.

I have always felt like my mission in life is to help humanity in some way whether small or big. One of the things I felt impressed to do was write some books on how to become happy, how to be inspired, motivated and successful at what ever you desire.

I have written the first book called The Books of Life Volume 1: How to Become Happy.

It is a story of the journey I took to change my life and become happy and positive. It took place during the difficult break-up of a thirty year marriage. It was at a time when it appeared there was no point in going on, and all seemed lost. I would like to share this journey with you and show you how I got from “There to Here”.

I need your help.

I want to get the book to millions of people. The book will be free to anyone who donates and on Kindle for a time and perhaps permanently because I want everyone to have access to it and the principles and keys contained therein. It is written from my own experience and things I have gone through which taught me how to become happy by choice and action. It’s not just a warm and fuzzy book. While it is that too it is also the nuts and bolts so to speak of how to get there, what actions I took and principles and keys I learned, that I believe will work for anyone. My hope is that by doing so, you might find the keys to happiness, even as I did.

A Vision

I have had a vision for a long time of a better society. Others have had similar visions. A society that works together as a community, values peace, prosperity and the brotherhood of man. A more decentralized society, a more self sufficient society that cares for the environment yet embraces technology but is not dependent on centralized energy, factory farming, manufacturing, food distribution, monopolized medicine, etc.

At first I did not see exactly how the book and creating a better society were closely related. However I began to receive the impressions to build a model or a seed of this greater society, a demonstration site, to help humanity, to set a light on a hill. I realized that for a better world to manifest without, it first had to manifest within the hearts and minds of the people. Hence teaching people how to become happy despite their circumstances is a big first step to a better world.

The proceeds from the book will go to build this model or seed if you will, and both will help us fulfill our mission to do something for humanity and help move us forward. However it is not just about us, it is much bigger then us. All of us can do something. Many hands make the work lighter. You can help and be part of creating the seeds of a better society by supporting this project. Will you help us?

We Can Do Better

Many people are just existing and not really happy much less know what that means. What If I told you no matter how you feel, no matter where you are in your life, you can “choose” to be happy and take specific action that will bring you to that point of happiness? This is what my book can teach you.

The first step to a greater society is for people to find that well spring of happiness within. I am here to tell you from experience it is possible and certain steps can be taken to do so. Please help me get this book to millions. Get a copy for yourself and share this site with your family and friends, and everyone you know! Lets start building a better world and it starts with each of us becoming better people, happy people, and helping one another and working together. In doing so we help ourselves and our children and grandchildren!

A Better Society

How is it that in the 21′st century if the power grid goes down for more then a few days for any number of reasons, millions will instantly be thrust back into the 19th century? Refrigerated food will rot, people on life support will die, people will freeze or over heat etc. It is just insane that we have become this vulnerable in this day and age and there is no reason for it! If we were able to produce energy more as individuals and local communities we become much less vulnerable. That’s just one example. Centralization of energy resources and distribution makes us vulnerable if something happens it can effect the entire country.

It seems we are waging needless wars around the globe as the human family squabbles and fights over their differences and of course resources.

We can do better my friends. You and I can do better! We must do better and think bigger! We’ve come a long way over the centuries and millenniums, however we have a ways to go. It has to start somewhere and it has, however it is time to take bigger steps. We need a model or a seed for a future society. What sort of world do we want our children and grand children to grow up in?

If you limit your choice only to what seems possible or reasonable, you disconnect yourself from what you truly want, and all that is left is a compromise.” Robert Fritz

With today’s technology There is no reason we need to be trucking food picked green thousands of miles across country. With permaculture, Restoration Agriculture, and Keyline Water management techniques we can literally replant the Garden of Eden! Look what some simple water management can do: An Oasis in the American Desert. With passive solar greenhouse technology literally every state can now grow anything they currently import. We can create permanent perennial landscapes in and around our communities making us self sustaining without harming the environment..

We are at the mercy of centralized oil and energy corporations when we have had the technology for over a hundred years to be energy independent. With bio fuels like ethanol, bio diesel, bio or methane gas, wood gas, etc. we could have been independent decades ago, not to mention emerging technology for alternatives like hydrogen, fuel cells, and magnetic motors, etc. … Its renewable clean and efficient.

Many of you are realizing there must be a better way. However you may be at a loss as to how to help us all head in that direction. Many are doing what they can within their spheres of influence. Many feel frustrated, a majority seemingly do not care or are unaware. Well friends, Brothers, Sisters, fellow human beings, it starts with you and me.

Dare to dream! What the mind can conceive and believe it can achieve!

Imagine for a moment when you need a car or a TV instead of going to a store or dealership you order it on line choosing the features you want and then go to the local library where it is printed out on a 3D Printer? Sound far fetched? Check it out: 3D Printing . The technology is here now and being used.

Imagine farms and perennial permanent landscapes that produce the food fuels and fibers that society functions on without plowing the ground every year destroying the soil (soul) life, no chemical inputs, and an abundance of food in and around our communities.

Imagine living in Minnesota or Idaho and buying home grown oranges or avocados grown right there in the state? It is easily possible with passively heated greenhouses called a “Walipini” or similar greenhouse technology. They are green houses similar to an Earth Ship but with what is called a cold pit in them.

Have you heard about the guy who grows a million pounds of organic food a year on 3 acres using Aquaponics? He’s is the largest farmer in Wisconsin on 3 acres mind you. That is simply amazing! A Million Pounds of Food on 3 Acres! The vegetables and plants grow two to three times as fast and only uses 10% of the water used to grow them conventionally. This is a near perfect marriage of technology and farming in a healthy sustainable symbiotic relationship.

It’s easy to complain, it is always harder to come up with solutions. Here are some main points and solutions off the top:

Problem: Petroleum based chemical factory farming is unsustainable and ruining the environment and our health with synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, GMOs etc. Most food travels an average of 1400 miles to get to our tables, which of course uses a ton of energy too. Food grown in this manner is nutrient deficient. It has volume but not quality.

Solutions: We need local/regional food production. Permaculture/Restoration Agriculture, Aquaponics, and green house technology along with Key-line and swale water management. These can save us energy, increase yields and use less water with vastly less travel to our tables. It needs to be natural, organic, heirloom, and non-hybrid as much as possible. Working with nature instead of against it. Nature has spent millions of years developing and evolving the fruits of the earth and our bodies have also developed and evolved on those foods so natural is what is best for us. Mimicking nature with Permanent Perennial production landscapes, water retention lanscapes that do not need to be replanted every year.

Problem: Oil is peaking (not running out) as far as production meaning we produce less then we did 30 years ago but demand is higher and increasing. The low hanging fruit (easy to get oil) is much less now days (we have gotten most of it in the 20th century) and shale and other means are harder and more expensive to get and process so prices will be going up while production continues to decrease… Not to mention the problems fracking is causing and the unknown long term damage to the environment. However, people are getting sick now in fracking areas and ground water has been contaminated. There is no need for this. There are better ways.

Solutions: Ethanol, Bio diesel, methane, and wood gas/gasification etc. all need to be ramped up along with research into alternative energies such as over unity devices etc.. They also need to be done locally and regionally not using the gasoline model with centralized processing plants trucking fuels thousands of miles, or they are not as cost effective. However the idea they don’t put out as much energy as they take to produce is a myth put out by those whose profits are threatened by clean alternative sustainable fuels. We have the technology.

Problem: We waste tons of water. Sewage and water treatment plants are not sophisticated enough to filter out exotic chemicals that we consume in medicines and food like caffeine etc. and they are showing up in the water supply now. Water use is increasing exponentially and our aquifers are not being replenished as fast as we are depleting them in some areas. Large sprinkler systems on factory farm fields often spray water in hot sun and or wind causing evaporation leaving more salt content in the water. This along with salt based artificial fertilizers and the fields are slowly being salted.

Solution: We need to build water retention landscapes as in Permaculture/Restoration Agriculture. Keyline and swale water management can provide water for every farm and recharge aquifers with little to no maintenance. Also to compost our manure and collect and filter rainwater locally and individually. 1 inch of rain on 1000 square feet of roof is 500 gallons of water. Nature brings water right to us but we do everything we can to drain it away and then have to expend lots of energy to get it back out of the ground when all we need to do is collect it right were we live.

Problem: Credit based fiat debt money system is completely unsustainable and could implode at any moment and we see the effects already with the 2008 crash and we are likely heading for a bigger crash.

Solution: Fair trade. Sound or hard money such as gold and silver and local alternative currencies that are backed by precious metals or commodities. Not leaving it in the hands of government anymore. No more credit based currencies and no more fractional reserve period, fair value for fair value!

Moving forward

We need to build demonstration sites and teach others by example what is possible. That is our goal here to do just that. Will you help us? If not us, then who? If not now, then when? The time is now my friends. We are the people we have been waiting for, will you join us? Ok then lets get started!

An Oasis in the American Desert.

Folks this shows what is possible, we can literally re-green the deserts of the earth with some simple water management. And that is what we aim to do with our “New Day is on the Way” Project.  Check out the video:

An Oasis in the American Desert

You’ll have to give an email address to see the video. However Geoff will not spam your email. I have been on his list for over a year. I maybe get an email once every couple months. This is well worth the watch1

Heaven On Earth If you Ask me – Sepp Holzer Farming of the Future…

Check out this farm on the side of a mountain in Austria. Simply amazing in high altitude what they grow and do with a style of so called  permaculture he developed himself over 40 years. He makes a good living too with no subsidies no fertilizers or chemicals and no irrigation etc… It’s heaven on earth of you ask me.

They work with nature and make little micro climates using rocks, raised beds (not like what you think) terracing, water, and ponds etc…  They even grow citrus at 4000 feet with no greenhouses using these micro climates  allowing them to grow things at altitude that supposedly will not grow in those altitudes.  They also have exotic fish in some of the ponds that could not survive otherwise. Simply Amazing what they are doing.

This could be done on various scales. Imagine having a garden you do not have to weed or water?

They produce all their own electricity too with run off from their ponds using a hydro electric generator. Wow what a great example of what can be done! This is the Future! With farms like this we can have abundance and care for the environment at the same time. Factory farming has been very hard on the land. Its time to look at ways of changing that. Sepp Holzer is way ahead of the pack if you ask me!

Wow they use rocks to heat the fish ponds with the sun this is amazing what they’re is doing, we can all learn from it. This is how all farming should be! I am hooked.  I am considering learning German so I don’t miss anything that might get lost in the translation here.

Warning: If you have any dreams or aspiration of living a self sufficient life style you will be hooked!
